The Rumor Mill News Reading Room is an alternative news site that posts stories and news articles you might not get from the mainstream media.
It was founded by Rayelan Allan, an investigative reporter, conspiracy theorist, and journalist blogger. It first came out as a print magazine in 1996, but it now operates as a website that allows citizen reporters to upload blogs and news stories.

Rumormillsnews.com History
According to The Rumor Mill News Reading Room site, it has been around since 1996, “serving truth and freedom worldwide.”
The website states that it was founded in 1996 – as a print magazine, only going online as an internet newsletter in 1998. That matches what I found through my research.
According to WHOIS lookup, Rumormillnews.com was registered in 1998. However, there is no information about who owns the site, as the registrant information is protected by a company that protects the identity of domain name owners.
The original founders of Rumor Mill News were two people by the names Gunther and Rayelan Allan Russbacher. A picture of them (sourced from RumorMillNews.com) is provided.
However, Gunther apparently disappeared sometime around the end of 1996.
According to the website, though, Gunther was a CIA operative. Rayelan, on the other hand, was an investigative reporter who worked to expose the October Surprise scandal.
Allegedly, the H.W. Bush administration panicked when Gunther and Rayelan got married in 1989 as Gunther was the pilot who flew Bush back from Paris, where he negotiated and finalized the October Surprise. Since Rayelan was investigating the scandal, the former president worried it would come to light and become known to the public.
Furthermore, Gunther was put in jail as a political prisoner for the entirety of his marriage (except for nine months). He disappeared for around seven years, and there were attempts to kill both Gunther and Rayelan.
Not only that, but Gunther’s sons were also jailed and threatened.
Apparently, Gunther reappeared in 1997 with a new wife. Somehow, he had no recollection of his previous wife – his memory of that time had been wiped clean somehow.
Is any of this true? I have no way of verifying it.
While Rumor Mill News claims it is true and even provides some documents that show that Gunther was in the navy, I have no way of verifying that claim or verifying the authenticity of the document or the pictures posted on the site.

I have not found much information about Gunther online.
According to STL Reporter, Gunther was a prisoner who was kept under top security. He had used various aliases and was allegedly known as The Raven, but nobody really knows who he was and what he did.
He was arrested for impersonating a military officer, although he had previously been charged with fraud and stealing. However, Gunther claimed that he was a CIA operative and was being kept in prison because of his knowledge of the secret October Surprise negotiations as well as other information that could harm the administration.
According to STL Reporter, though, he was not the first to make those claims nor the most credible one to make them. However, another writer who tried to investigate the scandal was found dead in his hotel room.
The October Surprise scandal refers to negotiations between the Bush-Reagan campaign and Islamic revolutionaries in Iran to delay the release of over 50 American hostages until after the election in exchange for arms and support after they won the election.
The Bush administration claimed there was no way Bush was there at the negotiations, but Gunther and others allege that he was.
According to Gunther, he has proof of the flight when he brought Bush back from Paris, as every (SR) 71 flight is recorded, and he has the recording. He claimed he was being held until he turned over the tape to Congress and let it go from his possession.
Is any of that true? Or is it all a conspiracy theory, and Gunther was a simple criminal with delusions or someone who wanted to become famous?
Who knows. There may be some truth to it, or it may be entirely fake news – unfortunately, there is no real way to verify such claims, as either the government has worked hard to hide the evidence and silence investigators or there was no evidence in the first place.
What about Allan? Rayellan has dabbled in conspiracy theories – she wrote a book called The Obergon Chronicles, where she talks about UFOs, government mind control, and other conspiracies – the book cover asks, “Did our ancestors come from a planet in the Sirius Tri-Star system?”

According to her LinkedIn, she has an online radio show at rumormillnewsradio.com, but when I visited the site, it was hacked and displayed p*rnographic images, so I would not recommend visiting it.
In conclusion, Rumor Mill News was supposedly founded by a CIA whistleblower and an investigative reporter, but it’s impossible to verify the claim that Gunther was actually a CIA operative or that he was actually married to Rayellan.

Rumormillnews.com Reviews
I have not been able to find many reviews of Rumormillnews.com, as the site is not that popular and only has a small, core readership base.
First, though, there are two reviews on EasyCounter. There is one positive review, and one negative review.
The positive review praises it for being, “Absolutely one of the best news sites in the world for its world-wide agents of insight and perspective which encourage individual discernment in every step of the journey.”
On the other hand, the negative review bashes it for “the multitude of garbage ads.” The reviewer also says that there are “steaming pantloads of useless information abound on this site” and that “following the advice in their “articles” is a recipe for disaster.”
However, EasyCounter concluded that the site is at least safe to visit, without viruses or privacy concerns.
On MyWOT, there is another positive review, but it’s very brief – the review consists of the comment “good site,” and it’s from 12 years ago.
Let’s now proceed with my own review.
From what I’ve seen, The Rumor Mill News Reading Room has some decent news stories, but it’s mixed in with a lot of nonsense and extreme conspiracy theories about UFOs, the new world order, and more.
However, the biggest problem with the site, in my opinion, is the seeming lack of quality control. At times, it looks more like a forum or subreddit than a news site – anyone who is a forum member can publish a story, it seems.
Each one has different opinions and their own style of writing. Some of them seem to be using the site to drive traffic to their YouTube videos or their own blogs, publishing embedded videos or short excerpts of stories posted elsewhere.
It seems like many of the stories are posted by members of the CGI forum, a sub-site of Rumor Mill News where “citizen reporters” post stories from around the world. While there is some value to letting “citizen reporters” post investigative stories and opinions, it also reduces quality.
Sure, there are plenty of interesting things to read, but how many of them are true, and how many of them are relevant? That’s hard to say – if anything, the CGI forum and The Rumor Mill News Reading Room provide a lot of entertainment value, but you can’t really rely on it as a valid or comprehensive source of news information.
CGI stands for Common Ground Independent Media.
For example, one of the claims on the site is that there is a group of people called Faction Two who are opposed to the “New World Order” (a common term amongst conspiracy theorists who believe there is a group of people trying to set up a new world order behind the scenes).
This faction is composed of German and Austrian officers who had to flee Europe before the end of World War 2 because they were part of the conspiracy to assassinate Hitler. You can read more about this theory here.
Furthermore, the site itself is kind of outdated and doesn’t provide a great user experience. It could benefit from a more modern theme, and there are many ads in the sidebars that distract you from reading and decrease the quality of the user experience.
According to Rumormillnews.com, it received over seven million page views this month from over four hundred thousand unique visitors, so the site is popular enough.
In conclusion, while Rumormillnews.com is an interesting site for passing the time and provides a lot of entertainment value, I wouldn’t rely on it for accurate information, nor is the writing always particularly good.

In this section, I will go over some similar sites to Rumormillnews.com. None of these sites fall into the “mainstream media” category, so they’re great if you’re looking for alternative sources of information.
1. Before It’s News
Before It’s News is a community-powered news site where anyone can post news articles. The idea is that citizen reporters and anonymous whistleblowers can upload news stories that won’t be published or deemed newsworthy by the mainstream media and traditional reporters.
However, the design is a lot better than Rumormillnews.com.
Publishing news stories is as simple as creating an account, complete with a pen name, and then writing and publishing your story. There are stories published in various news categories, including economy, health, “beyond science,” inspiration, sustainable living, and more.
You can browse the top articles of the day, week, month, or year, or you can sign up for the newsletter to get notified of breaking news stories.
The site has plenty of videos and interesting expose documentaries as well. Overall, I found it to be quite a fascinating site with a wide range of perspectives, so it’s definitely worth a read.
2. Real Raw News
Real Raw News is a blog that claims to “explore content often avoided by the mainstream media.” It’s a right-wing site that often publishes unfounded conspiracy theories, so always take its claims with a grain of salt.
For example, one of the more outlandish theories posted on the site is that the Deep State is hoarding unvaccinated blood in a bunker somewhere to use on themselves in the case of a national emergency.
The founder of Real Raw News goes by the name Michael Baxter, and you can reach him at michael@realrawnews.com. He is the one and only writer on the site -=– most articles are written by him, but he does accept freelance submissions.

3. Operation Disclosure Official
Operation Disclosure Official’s stated mission is to provide you with all the most recent updates about the latest conspiracy theories and to provide unvetted, raw information from a wide range of sources.
It explores categories such as religion, science, health, and the economy. While it claims to focus on exposing the Deep State Cabal, so to speak, it also includes general articles, such as “Helping Freedom Win: What are the Secrets of Successful Weight-Loss.”
4. Disclose.tv
Disclose.tv is a news aggregator that curates stories from various news sites, such as Fox News, The Daily Mail, The New York Times, and others. It is a 100% independent site that is funded by advertisem*nts and donations.
There are a lot of captivating stories on the site. Just to give you an idea of the kind of news articles you can expect to see, here are some recent headlines:

As you can see, there is a nice mix of politics, tech, and other kinds of stories.

5. Infowars
Infowars, founded in 1999, is owned by media personality Alex Jones, who is well known for his fiery style on his radio show, The Alex Jones Show. He has been involved in various scandals, such as his involvement in promoting the conspiracy that the Sandy Hook shooting was staged – that it was a hoax set up by the government to generate support for gun control laws.
He was later forced by a court to pay $1.5 billion in damages to the victims of the shooting, after which he filed bankruptcy.
He is also known for his somewhat bizarre theories, such as the belief that chemicals in the waters are turning frogs gay.
Infowars, nonetheless, is one of the most popular right-wing sites. It covers news stories across the whole range of the spectrum, and it also features opinion articles and other interesting things.
If you are looking for real news, but you detest the mainstream media, Infowars is one of the best alternative news sites to visit.
6. Empire News
Empire News is a news blog that brings you stories about celebrities, politicians, and more. The stories aren’t always true – for example, it claimed that Michelle Obama filed for divorce post Barack Obama admitting to be gay, which is not true.
However, the website claims that it is for entertainment purposes only, so it’s mostly good for its entertainment value. Either way, check it out and see for yourself.
7. Judicial Watch
Judicial Watch is a conservative activist group that fights for justice and investigates wrongdoing by public figures, including politicians, judges, etc. It often files Freedom of Information Act lawsuits to uncover hidden information about wrongdoings it investigates.
It was founded in 1994, so it’s been around for quite a while, although quite many of its claims have not been proven and even been dismissed due to lack of evidence.
The news stories on the site often focus on updates regarding lawsuits that Judicial Watch has filed. For example, a recent headline reveals that Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Biden government, stating the following: “Judicial Watch Sues Biden Administration for Extradition Records of Illegal Alien Who Ran Over and Killed Brother of Judicial Watch Client in Chicago.”
The Documents archive is where you can find documents it has obtained as a result of its lawsuits and investigations, and there are also videos and podcasts where you can find updates as well.
8. News Punch
The slogan of News Punch, displayed prominently in the header of the site, is “Where Mainstream Fears to Tread.”
According to the about page, it has a team of writers that focus on bringing stories that the mainstream media won’t cover, focusing on bringing you conservative viewpoints that its mostly conservative audience wants to see.
Its news stories span many categories, such as tech, health, politics, and more.
It was founded in 2014 by Sean Adl-Tabatabai and Sinclair Treadway, although its original name was YourNewsWire.
Some of its most recent headlines seem quite shocking:

What Really Happened, or WRH, is a site that allows members to submit news stories. It features conspiracy theories and stories that you won’t see elsewhere, such as:
- “CBS News Told Staff to ‘Avoid Any Mention’ of Nashville Shooter Being Transgender”
- “What I did NOT KNOW was that Mr Macron was not vaccinated. I did not know that most of the members of the government were not.”
- “After Tate, Another One Bites the Dust in Romania”
There are various categories on the site, including ones focused on well-known conspiracies, such as, Climategate, globalism, and voter fraud.
All in all, What Really Happened is an interesting site that brings you stories the mainstream media won’t cover.
10. 100PercentFedUp
100PercentFedUp is a conservative news site founded by Leisa Audette and Patty McMurray, two conservative moms, in the memory of Andrew Breitbart and with the goal of exposing the lies of the mainstream media.
After Breitbart died, Audette and McMurray decided they could no longer stand on the sidelines and watch the country go down, so they decided to do something about it. They claim Breitbart was a hero and are trying to follow in his footsteps, exposing the lies in academia and politics as well.
The name of their site reflects their feelings – they are completely fed up and sick with the mainstream media and its lies.
The site reflects conservative viewpoints and brings you conservative news stories.
11. The Liberty Daily
The Liberty Daily is a news aggregator site modeled after The Drudge Report, a popular news aggregator that has inspired a few others who thought it was not conservative enough.
Unlike Rumor Mill News, it provides news links from a variety of sources, deciding which story or stories to put as the headline of the day depending on which it thinks is most important.
It links to popular conservative sites like Breibart and Fox News as well as various lesser-known sites. However, it will also link to mainstream sites if it finds stories from those sites it thinks are interesting.
Conclusion
Rumormillnews.com is a right-wing news site founded by Rayellan Allan. Despite having an outdated look, it has a core group of fans, although reviews are mixed.
There are plenty of other alternatives, though, such as Disclose.tv and Infowars, where you can go to get conservative content.
