Grover Underwood is one of two secondary protagonists of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series. He is a satyr in charge of protecting his best friend, Percy Jackson.

History[]

At some point, Grover become Thalia's satyr protector. When Thalia and the other half-bloods Luke and Annabeth first arrived at Camp Half-Blood, they were being chased by Agents of Hades; the Furies. To buy her friends some time, Thalia turned back to fight. Grover tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen. So, at the last moment, Zeus; her father, intervened to save her life and changed her form to a magical tree. Eventually, Grover also become Annabeth's satyr protector.^[1][2] Because Thalia didn't make it Grover was perceived a failure as a protector for years, eventually he was given a second chance and assigned as the protector to half-blood Percy Jackson.

Grover met Percy at Yancy, their boarding school. He and Percy became best friends until Percy was accused of pushing their bully Nancy Bobofit in a fountain on a field trip. When he and Percy were questioned about the incident Grover lied and told them that Percy did push Nancy to protect him from a Fury working at the school, jeopardizing his and Percy's friendship. That night Grover shows up at Percy and his mother Sally 's vacation home to bring them to Camp to protect them from the approaching Minotaur. Sally is taken by the minotaur just outside camp, proceeding in Percy killing the minotaur with his own horn. However, since Percy does make it to Camp alive Grover's second chance is deemed a success.

Being 24-years-old, Grover is the biological equivalent of a 12 or 13 year old human due to satyrs growing at half the rate of humans. He is taller than his friends Percy and Annabeth, and being a satyr his legs appear to be that of a goat's and he has slightly slanted ears with small horns on the top of his head. He has an average figure, with curly black hair and tan skin with brown eyes.

Grover is a kind and trusting satyr whose best friend is Percy Jackson. He is loyal and will do anything for his friends and only wants the best for them. He is a protector and promised Sally Jackson he would protect Percy. He wants very much to succeed as protector and to be a good friend to Percy and Annabeth, and to be a help on their quest.

Percy Jackson[]

Grover and Percy met in Yancy Academy and became friends quickly. They were both bullied by Nancy Bobofit and they would play Mythomagic together (Grover played this with Percy to train him for what was to come). Then when on the field trip Percy accidentally uses his powers to push Nancy into a fountain. Later, when Percy is receiving punishment, Grover tells the headmaster that Percy did push Nancy, which gets Percy kicked out of Yancy Academy.

Later on, Grover appears at the cabin in Montauk and on the car ride to camp explains everything to Percy. Just before they reach Camp Half-Blood Grover promises Sally Jackson that he would protect Percy.
